Friends of the Romanian-American Alliance cordially invite you the Inaugural “Alianța Awards Gala” on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm. The event, celebrating achievements in the Romania-American community, will take place at the beautiful National Museum of Women in the Arts located at 1250 New York Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20005.

8Honorees at the Gala dinner include leading Romanian-Americans and Americans who have made major contributions to the „alianța” between the U.S. and Romania. They are:
– Mike Carroll, Founder and current President of Romanian Children’s Relief and their Romanian partner charity, Fundația Inocenți
– Ileana Orlich, Head of German, Romanian, and Slavic Faculty and Director of the Arizona State University Romanian Studies Program
– Daniela Rus, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Director of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at MIT

The evening will also feature a special performance of the short play “Born in Bucharest: New Voices in American Theater” written by Saviana Stănescu and directed by Cristina Bejan.

Friends of the Romanian- American Alliance – Alianța is non-partisan alliance of organizations and professionals working to strengthen the cultural and economic ties between Romania and the United States. Alianța empowers Romanian and American institutions and individuals though education, networking, and facilitating opportunities that benefit the citizens of both nations.
